2011 Texas Solar Energy Society Annual Meeting
The North Texas Renewable Energy Group hosted the TXSES 2011 Annual Meeting held at the Trinity Audubon Center in Dallas. The Trinity River Audubon Center is managed by Audubon Texas, the state program of the National Audubon Society. Audubon's mission for more than 100 years has been to conserve and restore natural ecosystems focusing on birds, other wildlife, and their habitats, for the benefit of humanity and earth's biological diversity. The Audubon Center itself is "LEED certified" as a very energy efficient building. In addition, the Audubon Center has two large arrays of solar panels installed out front. The Audubon Center was an ideal venue for the 2011 Texas Solar Energy Society's annual meeting.
It was our honor as part of the meeting to present to Clint Minnick, Agriculture Mechanics instructor with the Bonham Independent School District (northeast of Dallas), a $1,000 grant/scholarship award to further his work with students. Under Clint's guidance, high-school students converted a truck and farm tractor to 100% electric power.

The Trinity River Audubon Center is one of Dallas' natural treasures!
