Registration deadline is January 20, 2016.
 
Energy challenges are growing in Texas, just as they are around the country. The deployment of microgrids with energy storage has the potential to help alleviate Texas' - and our nation's - energy challenges.
 
This one and a half day event will offer tours of Oncor's new 660 kW microgrid in Lancaster, Texas, as well as UTA's microgrid and energy storage characterization facilities.

"Getting to Zero" is a comprehensive, cutting-edge, four-part educational series that will lead participants to the next target of the 2030 Challenge - 70% reduction - and beyond. Participants will explore both the technical skills and cross-disciplinary approaches essential for the design, construction and operation of net-zero-energy buildings.
 
The 4-part series starts on Tuesday, March 1, and includes 3 additional sessions on April 5, May 3, and June 7 (a total of 16 Continuing Education Hours). Preregistration required.

Tandy Hills "Bio Blitz"
Location: 3400 View Street, Fort Worth, Texas.
The 2016 BioBlitz at Tandy Hills Natural Area will combine cutting-edge technology, biology, land conservation and community engagement in round-the-clock sessions, April 17-23.
 
The 2016 Tandy Hills Natural Area BioBlitz is the first event of its kind at Tandy Hills, and one of the first such full-scale events in North Texas. The BioBlitz will focus on documenting and preserving one of Fort Worth's most beautiful, valuable and fragile natural treasures - a living prairie museum in the midst of urban east Fort Worth. Leading scientists from across the State will come together to find and identify the plants, animals and other organisms throughout the park. Volunteers will conduct studies that will serve as a planning tool for ongoing land management efforts.
 
The final 36 hours of the BioBlitz event - from 6:00 am Friday, April 22 (Earth Day!), to Saturday at 6:00 pm - will focus on public participation with wildflower walks, food trucks and other activities designed for the entire family.
 
Solar electricity will power all aspects of this week-long activity!

The University will offer events to educate students, faculty, staff and community members about sustainability. Event activities include music, student displays, information booths, and more. Sponsored by the UNT Office of Sustainability. Free, and open to the public.

Fair Park, Dallas, Texas.
An annual, outdoor festival seeking to elevate environmental awareness and influence the way Texans think, live and work. This free, family-friendly event unites and shows Texans how green lifestyle choices can lower their cost of living, improve their health, and help save the environment.

A community-wide, free, fun, family event where ordinary people will learn practical things to improve the health of the planet, their children and themselves.

  April 25 - 26 "Power Plays: Geothermal Energy in Oil and Gas Fields"
SMU Campus, Dallas, Texas.
The SMU Geothermal Lab is hosting their 8th international energy conference and workshop in April, 2016. The conference will focus on geothermal energy in oil and gas fields. There will be an opening reception with poster presentations on Monday April 25, and oral presentations on Tuesday April 26. The pre-conference workshop on April 25 will provide a focused introduction for those new to the geothermal community. The conference goal is to connect attendees with the knowledge, technical expertise and equipment options they need to successfully transition an existing oil or gas field into an electricity-generating system.

Solar Power International is sponsored by the Solar Energy Industries Association ("SEIA") and the Solar Electric Power Association ("SEPA"). SPI held its inaugural show in 2003 and was designed to serve and advance the solar energy industry by bringing together the people, products, and professional development opportunities that drive the solar industry and are forging its bright future.
 
This event focuses solely on creating an environment that fosters the exchange of ideas, knowledge and expertise for furthering solar energy development in the United States. All proceeds from SPI support the expansion of the solar energy industry through SEIA and SEPA's year-round research and education activities, and SEIA's extensive advocacy efforts.
