Tuesday, February 5, through Thursday, February 7, 2013, Philadelphia Convention Center. Presented by the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) and the Solar Electric Power Association (SEPA), PV America East offers a forum for installers, designers and suppliers to connect and develop relationships with companies that provide solar photovoltaic (PV) products and services.
For the first time at PV America the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) and Solar Energy International (SEI) are providing free PV technical training and resources for installers, salespeople and other solar energy professionals. Taking place in booth 1301 on the exhibit floor, the training sessions led by subject experts, address subjects including grid-tied systems (residential, commercial and utility), grid-tied with battery back-up systems and stand-alone systems.
Extensive PV-focused conference program features 27 concurrent sessions in six tracks: Finance, Policy, Markets, Innovations, Working with Utilities, and Cross-cutting.

Texas Energy Independence Week
The week of March 4, 2013 is "Energy Independence Week" at the State Capitol. TREIA [the Texas Renewable Energy Industries Association] has begun organizing activities at the capitol and is open to all that are interested in the future of renewable energy in Texas and the direction this Legislature is headed with our energy policies. Several Texas Energy Independence Forums will be held at locations around Austin and at the Capitol followed by Legislative visitations, debriefing and a reception afterward. If you've never been to the Capitol to visit with your elected representative, this is your opportunity to experience the anticipation and the satisfaction of helping to make a difference in how statewide policies are created and the effect that you can have on the process.
Join dozens of other renewable energy advocates and thousands of dedicated Texans every session that desire to make a different in the lives of millions. Don’t be left out of the process, join us the week of March 4 to make your voice heard.

EDD is an annual, outdoor festival seeking to elevate environmental awareness and influence the way North Texans think, live and work. The family-friendly and free-admission event allows leaders in the corporate, academic and non-profit worlds to unite and show North Texans how green lifestyle choices can lower their cost of living, improve their health, and help save the environment.
The event will utilize approximately 500,000 square feet of both indoor and outdoor event space. EDD's footprint will easily accommodate the 600 exhibitors and 65,000 guests anticipated to attend this year's event.
Though Earth Day Dallas is a free event, third-party vendors will have food and beverage items available for sale. Certain attractions on the Fair Park grounds, which are not directly related to the Earth Day Dallas, may charge admission or usage fees. Vehicle parking is not free. Event organizers we encourage attendees to take the DART's Green Line to EDD 2013. Bike parking will be available inside the Park. Fort Worth Nature Center Buffalo Boogie

Race pre-registration begins March 1. On-site race registration and sign-in starts at 7:00 am May 11. The race starts at at 8:30 am. Entertainment and other activities begin at 9:00 am.
The Buffalo Boogie is the major fundraising event for the Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge. It's a 1 mile/5K walk and fun-run for individuals, families, groups, schools, and pets - plus a 5K competitive run. The route is shady, quiet, and baby-stroller friendly. The competitive run is held on a 5K chip-timed, USA Track & Field certified course. The event in 2012 had over 1200 participants who enjoyed live country music, entertaining and educational games, face-painting, clowns, balloon artists, exhibits, and lots of good food.

American Solar Challenge Formula Sun Grand Prix (FSGP) 2013
The American Solar Challenge (ASC) is a multi-day, 1200-1800 mile cross-country road race across North America. The event is typically held every other year during the summer and is open to solar car teams from countries all over the world.
The American Solar Challenge is a competition to design, build, and drive solar-powered cars in a cross-country time/distance rally event. Teams compete over a 1200-1800 mile course between multiple cities across the country. The event has had over two decades of organized events in North America.
The Formula Sun Grand Prix is a track event that is held on grand prix or road style closed courses. This unique style of raycing truly test the limits of solar cars in handling curves, braking, and acceleration. Strategy applied during these three day events is different than what is applied on the cross-country event.
Formula Sun Grand Prix (FSGP) 2013 will be held at the Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Texas from Monday, June 24 to Saturday, June 29.

Sunday, July 20, 2013 to Tuesday, July 30, 2013 -- 2013 Solar Car Challenge -- High school students will race solar-powered cars from Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas to Los Angeles, California.
NTREG members will participate in various aspects of the race and related activities.

About the Solar Car Challenge
The Solar Car Challenge originated in 1993 as the "Winston Solar Challeng", and has been recognized by "Technology & Learning" as one of the top ten education programs in America. The program teaches high school students how to build roadworthy solar cars, and then provides a safe environment to race.
The program's popularity has since grown rapidly and become its own non-profit entity. More than 65 schools in 20 states now take part in the Solar Car Challenge. Top teachers from across the country have put their minds together to make the Solar Car Challenge one of the most engaging and motivating high school science programs in existence today.
The Solar Car Challenge is designed to motivate students in science, engineering, and alternative energy. Students learn how to design, engineer, build, and race roadworthy solar cars. Workshops, curriculum materials, and on-site visits help support the teams. The end product of each education cycle is the Solar Car Challenge: a closed-track event at the world famous Texas Motor Speedway, or a cross country event (in alternate years) designed to give students an opportunity to show the country the product of their efforts.
The Solar Car Challenge is recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) non-profit education foundation. |
