Update to our March News Bulletin:

Good News!

In March, we ran a News Bulletin asking NTREG members and friends to fill out and mail in a formal request to the Public Utilities Commission, asking for a public forum on solar and renewable energy.

The Butler Firm, PLLC, a legal and consulting services firm to developers of solar generation and other sustainable energy projects in Texas and throughout the world filed a motion on behalf of all solar and renewable energy supporters requesting that the Texas Public Utility Commission ("PUC") hold a specific "workshop" to review the potential of solar energy to provide a cost effective solution to both the near term and longer term challenges of having enough electricity in Texas during peak demand periods.

We're pleased to report your efforts were successful! The Texas Public Utilities Commission has agreed to schedule workshop time specifically for solar energy. (The PUC refers to "public hearings" as "workshops".)

We will keep you apprised of the solar and renewable energy workshop dates and times when they are made public.

Summary of Near-Term Events.
Note! There are SO many events in March and April this year (especially April!), we can't list them all on our main page! Please see our EVENTS Page for details of events through April 30, and our Calendar Page for all 2013 events. Thanks!

About NTREG - Who We Are
The North Texas Renewable Energy Group (NTREG) was established in 2001 with the primary goal of educating North Texans about the power of renewable energy ("RE").

Whether you're experienced in renewable energy .. or so new to "RE" you don't know what to ask, The North Texas Renewable Energy Group is for you! Would you like to learn more about energy conservation, energy efficiency, solar electricity, solar hot water, and related topics? You're welcome to participate in our free Yahoo conversation group (sign-up link below) and attend our meetings!

NTREG members come quite literally from all walks of life. You need not be an engineer or the proverbial rocket scientist to be an active and productive participant with us.

We participate annually in a variety of events such as Mayfest, various Earth Days, Prairie Fest, The Renewable Energy Roundup, and others. We often staff a booth where we answer questions, provide information pamphlets, and demonstrate renewable energy equipment to the interested public.

We also frequently provide solar electric power equipment at various events to power their soundstages and other electrical needs. Our goal is to help educate people in solar energy and energy-related topics. What better way to teach about solar energy than by letting the public see it in action?

The North Texas Renewable Energy Group is a 501(c)(3) non-profit volunteer organization, and is the local chapter of the Texas Solar Energy Society (TXSES), which is the state chapter of the American Solar Energy Society (ASES). We encourage (but do not require) our members to take part in the State and National American Solar Energy Society memberships.

Our Mission:
The Mission of North Texas Renewable Energy Group is to further the development of renewable energy, sciences and technologies with concern for the ecological, social and economic fabric of our community and state. NTREG promotes renewable energy through the exchange of ideas and information at meetings, discussion group and public and private events.

Additional areas of interest include electric cars and alternative transportation, biodiesel, as well as all aspects of energy conservation, both residential and commercial. If it pertains to energy, sustainability, or anything related .. we're probably discussing it.

Meetings are held on the 2nd Saturday of each month, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the REI Family Outdoor Recreation Store in Dallas, Texas (north side of I-635 between the Dallas North Tollway and Midway Road). Check our Events page for meeting topics and maps.

You are welcome to join our online discussion group. You need not be a NTREG member to participate in our discussion group, or even know anything about renewable energy. Please note: Participation in the NTREG discussion group does not convey membership in NTREG.

Membership in NTREG, as well as participation in our discussion group, are open to all. Beginners and newcomers are welcome!
